Entry Checklist — Australia

Before You Fly

Determine your eligibility for an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA). You must be outside Australia when you apply and when the ETA is granted.
Ensure your passport is valid for the duration of your stay in Australia.
Apply for an ETA via the Australian ETA app or through the Department of Home Affairs website.
Download the Australian ETA app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Documents Needed

Valid German passport with at least 6 months validity from your intended date of entry into Australia.
Proof of sufficient funds to cover your expenses during your stay in Australia. This can include bank statements or credit card statements.optional
Confirmed onward or return travel tickets.optional
Evidence of your intention to return to Germany at the end of your visit. This could include an employment contract, property ownership documents, or family ties.optional
Details of your accommodation in Australia (e.g., hotel booking confirmations).optional

At the Border

Present your valid German passport to the immigration officer.
Answer any questions the immigration officer may have about your purpose of visit and intended stay.
Comply with all customs and biosecurity requirements.
