Before You Apply

  • Determine the specific type of U.S. visitor visa you need (B-1 for business, B-2 for tourism/medical). For tourism, you will likely need a B-2 visa.
  • Check your passport's expiration date. It must be valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay in the U.S.

Application Process

  • Complete the DS-160 online application form at ceac.state.gov.
  • Pay the non-refundable visa application fee (currently $185 USD) at ais.usvisa-info.com.
  • Schedule your visa interview at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in Brazil through ais.usvisa-info.com.
  • Prepare for your visa interview. Be ready to explain your travel purpose, financial situation, and ties to Brazil.

Documents Needed

  • Valid Brazilian passport.
  • DS-160 application confirmation page.
  • Receipt of visa application fee payment from ais.usvisa-info.com.
  • Passport-sized photograph that meets U.S. visa photo requirements.

At the Interview

  • Present your passport with the valid U.S. visa to the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer.

  • The CBP officer will stamp your passport and I-94 form (or issue an electronic I-94) indicating your authorized period of stay.
  • You can access your electronic I-94 record at i94.cbp.dhs.gov.
  • Ensure the I-94 is accurate and that you depart the U.S. before the date indicated.
